**PDBj Japan Protein Data Bank** serves as a central repository for experimentally determined 3D structures of proteins, nucleic acids, and their complexes. It is an archive of experimentally determined structures of biomolecules and also provides tools for data retrieval and analysis. PDBj generates a unique identifier, the PDB code, for each structure it receives and annotates it according to the wwPDB deposition, annotation, and validation guidelines.
